Spring Summer 2024

Don't think twice

For Spring Summer 2024, Talia Byre’s universe embraces a playful and spontaneous direction, inviting you to indulge in earthly delights with self-assurance. Named after Joan Baez’s 1963 rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right,” house codes are reimagined with notions of allure, impulsivity, and the mystical.

While the silhouettes are distinctly Talia Byre, the devil is in the details. Shirting continues with exaggerated shoulders and a nipped-in waist, but feature openings across the chest to reveal a hint of skin. Zip-up jackets and skirts—available in various lengths from mini to full—feature lightweight, high-shine nylon fabrics for maximum impact. Corset tops and party frocks offer a seductive twist on the brand’s signatures.

Knitwear continues to define the brand’s core identity, now with a renewed emphasis on mesmerising illusions. Washed merino intarsia is transformed into mini-dresses, featuring strategically placed polka dots. Unexpected combinations create intriguing contrasts, like pairing candy apple red, baby pink and yellow stripe, to off-green with lilac and marshmallow-hued polka dots. Elsewhere, there are black and white striped knits that are either layered with varying widths, or incorporated into a cinched dress, overlaid with sheer black tulle, creating an interplay of opacity.

Delving into the mystical through sartorial expression, inspiration is drawn from Annie Besant’s seminal 1905 book, Thought Forms, to imbue deeper significance to the designs. Specific colours are employed to convey meanings: lavender signifies spirituality, blue represents dedication to noble ideals, yellow symbolises intellect, and pink equates to affection.

There’s also a new addition to the line-up: The Bolter, meticulously crafted from supple leather and suede. This spacious bag, available in two distinct colorways, is designed to cater to the modern, on-the-go woman, featuring an adjustable shoulder strap and an easy-access opening.

The show unfolds at London’s Tenderbooks store in Covent Garden, a regular research stop for Talia Byre each season. It offers an intense, up-close experience, juxtaposed against the intimate salon-like runway setting.
